These Sunday morning Kundalini Vinyasa Flow Yoga classes are offered entirely by donation. Practice generally starts with a little Dance of Shiva, to begin opening the peripheral energetic channels, or nadis, in the arms. The first hour generally focuses on strengthening poses to generate heat, or tapas, in the body, using a coherent combination of Standing Poses, Arm Balances, Backbends, and Inversions.

The second hour explores more subtle spinal movements, playing with the reversal of polarity of the spine in undulating wave-like snaking patterns which have the potential of awakening the dormant energy of Kundalini. We play with movements initiated from the crown and from the root, and with combinations of each, integrated in various ways with inhalation, exhalation, and retention of the breath, combining Pranayama with integrated serpentine flows. We work particularly with integral movement as waves undulating through the body, between core and periphery, between crown and root, between hand and heart, looking for a conscious clarity in articulating flows, feeling into the alignment, exploring the practice of Asana and Pranayama from an internal, experiential place.

We usually finish with breath practices the are purifying and cleansing, and that are said to stimulate the rising of Kundalini, including Bhastrika Pranayama and Kapalabhati.
